Union & Main
Year Completed: February 2022
Address: 455 Main St., East Greenwich, RI 02818
The Challenge: The former restaurant was dark and heavy with a narrow floor plan, limited natural light, a small bar, and a confused identity. The client requested a bright and open space with a large bar that would hold its own on a popular and busy street in East Greenwich.
The Solution: The new restaurant is a bright, airy, and fun celebration of East Greenwich’s history and location. Framed pictures provided by the East Greenwich Historical Society populate the walls while a big mural of the ocean provides a beachy feel. The new restaurant has a large bar in the main dining area in the front (representing present-day East Greenwich) with a smaller, cozy bar in the back (representing historical East Greenwich). Simple, classic materials like an exposed wood ceiling, white subway tiles, leather booths, and wood floors provide a classic and subtle backdrop for highlighting the energy of East Greenwich.
